Arts Development Worker
Crag Community Arts SCIO
Job Description
Crag Community Arts SCIO is seeking a dynamic Arts Development Worker, with a genuine passion for community arts, to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role, alongside the Project Coordinator, developing, coordinating, promoting and delivering a diverse range of arts and cultural activities for the local community.
Promotion and Marketing:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote arts activities, including social media, blogs, and community engagement.
- Create promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and online content.
- Maintain and update the Crag Community Arts website and social media channels.
Planning and Developing Arts Projects:
- Assist with planning, developing and delivering a variety of arts projects, workshops, and events that reflect the interests of existing groups and the local community and are in line with the priorities of current and future funding programmes.
Project management:
- Assist with scheduling, budgeting and resource management
- Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of specific arts projects.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of arts activities to help inform future funding
- Prepare reports and presentations on project progress for internal and external stakeholders
Fundraising and grant writing:
- Assist the Project Coordinator with identifying and securing financial support for arts projects and initiatives.
Managing Volunteers and placement staff
- Assisting with developing a bank of volunteers, developing an array of voluntary opportunities and helping to assign tasks to temporary and placement staff.
Education and Experience:
- Higher Education in Arts and or Community Development related field or similar an advantage although not essential
- Experience in developing and delivering community arts projects an advantage.
- Experience and understanding of working in a rural community setting an advantage
Skills and Attributes:
- Project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in using social media, digital marketing tools, and other relevant software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of people.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills: Ability to think outside the box and find innovative solutions to challenges.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location You will be based in Girvan at the Wee School Art Space, 15 Henrietta Street, Girvan KA26 9AL.
Number of Hours Per Week 15 hours per week for 40 weeks initially pending further funding.
Some weekend and evening work required
Wage £ 14.00/hour salaried
Artist Call Out
CRAG Community Arts SCIO are a grassroots arts organisation based in Girvan. Established in 2004, with the aim of providing opportunities for local people to engage with and participate in quality arts events and activities, CRAG have transformed the former Invergarven School in the heart of the town into the Wee School Art Space. This multi-art form space is becoming a thriving hub of arts and crafts in the local community. A year-long programme of creative workshops for all ages sits alongside the creation of large-scale community outdoor events including Strandline and the Carrick Carnival of Light.
We are seeking to expand our bank of Artists and are inviting Expressions of Interests from Artists and facilitators of all disciplines interested in delivering stand-alone workshops, masterclasses, blocks of evening / weekend classes and event delivery.
Special consideration will be given to Artists based in South Ayrshire.
All fees are in accordance with Scottish Artist Union Rates and travel costs will be covered.
